WALNUT CREEK — Four men wearing hooded sweatshirts invaded the downtown Apple Store Thursday morning, grabbing up and escaping with thousands of dollars worth of display computers, iPhones and iPads, authorities said Friday.
No employees or customers had anything taken from them and no one was injured.
Lt. Beth Hopkins said the thieves rushed into the store at 1129 S. Main St., about 11:52 a.m. Thursday and immediately began taking the various items on display counters before fleeing.
“It was very quick,” she said..
Hopkins did not have the exact number of items taken but said “it was a significant dollar loss.”
She said the suspects fled in a newer model black Dodge Charger parked nearby.
No detailed descriptions of the suspects were available.
The same store was victimized by thieves April 3 and numerous Apple Stores around the Bay Area have also been targeted in similar fashion.
Hopkins said at this time police have no information that Thursday’s thefts are linked to any of the others.
Hopkins said police would like to talk to any witnesses or anyone who might have video of the incident, even if they think it might be insignificant because police could find something helpful in the images.
Anyone who believes they have information may call police at 925-943-5844.
